The Future of Medical Education
Partnership Expands Physician Training Opportunities in San Antonio
A new partnership between Texas A&M University Naresh K. Vashisht College of Medicine and University Health will expand medical education opportunities in San Antonio and help address the region’s growing need for physicians.
University officials signed an affiliation agreement that will provide Texas A&M medical students with clinical training opportunities throughout Bexar County, including at University Health Palo Alto Hospital. Texas A&M faculty physicians are expected to begin providing patient care at Palo Alto Hospital in the fall of 2027.
As part of the collaboration, Texas A&M University-San Antonio will provide classroom and office space to support the broader medical education initiative. The partnership also includes plans for physician residency programs in family medicine and internal medicine, with potential opportunities for future growth.
By bringing together higher education and healthcare leaders, the partnership aims to strengthen access to care while preparing the next generation of physicians.
