Holistic Approach to Student Success

Educators, community leaders and student advocates gathered for the 10th annual Best of Both Worlds symposium, which focused on supporting students beyond the classroom.  

Hosted by the College of Education and Human Development, the event featured a panel discussion titled “Beyond Academics: A Holistic Approach to Student Support and Success.” Moderated by Lawrence Scott and Elisabeth Krimbill, both associate professors in the college, the conversation explored how institutions and communities can work together to address students’ academic, emotional, and personal needs.  

Panelists representing education, government, cultural organizations, and nonprofits discussed topics including student wellness, early intervention strategies, mental health support, and the role of partnerships in helping students thrive.  

The symposium reflected the University’s commitment to student-centered education and its belief that student success requires a comprehensive approach.
