Diane Gavin’s Legacy Continues

The legacy of Diane Gavin continues to inspire University students through a generous gift that reflects her lifelong passion for education, creativity and learning.  

Gavin joined A&M-San Antonio in 2023 as executive director of the Center for Academic Innovation, where she collaborated with faculty to advance student-centered teaching and learning. Before her passing in 2025 after a brief battle with cancer, she made plans to give back to the University community she valued.  

Honoring her wishes, Gavin’s husband, Tim, donated more than 2,000 books from her personal collection to the University Library. The collection spans topics ranging from research methods and photography to space exploration and will continue benefiting students for years to come.  

He also donated nearly 400 pieces of professional clothing to the University’s Career Closet, which provides students with attire for interviews, career fairs and networking opportunities.  

Through these gifts, Gavin’s commitment to education and student success will continue shaping Jaguar experiences for generations.
