Athletics Complex Debut
New Facility Elevates Student-Athlete Experience
The University celebrated a major milestone with the grand opening of its new Track and Field Complex, furthering its vision of becoming a destination campus and expanding opportunities for Jaguar Athletics.
Made possible through a $10 million investment from Bexar County, the complex features an eight-lane competition track, a multipurpose field, and a renovated softball stadium complete with a press box, dugouts and seating for 350 spectators. University leaders were joined by Bexar County Judge Peter Sakai, Commissioner Rebeca Clay-Flores and community partners for the grand opening ceremony.
The new facilities will serve as home for the University's growing men's and women's athletics programs while enhancing recruiting and providing student-athletes with premier training and competition venues. Beyond campus, the complex also fills an important community need by offering additional recreational and athletic space on San Antonio's South Side.
